Sublimated Patches
Sublimated Patches for Full Color and Gradients
Gradients, shading, a photo-realistic image — that's territory embroidery and molded patches can't cover. Sublimation dyes it straight into the fabric instead.

What Is a Sublimated Patch?
Dye-sublimation printing works by turning dye into a gas under heat and pressure, which then bonds directly into the fibers of the fabric. Nothing sits on the surface the way ink or thread does — the color becomes part of the material itself.
That's what makes gradients and full color practical here in a way they aren't with other patch types. There's no thread count limiting color transitions and no mold restricting how many colors can sit near each other, so a photo-realistic image or a smooth gradient prints the same way it would look on screen.
It also means the finished patch has a completely flat, smooth surface — no raised stitching, no molded texture. If a design has more color and detail than embroidery, PVC, or woven patches can realistically hold, sublimation is usually the answer.

Why it matters
Why Professional Sublimation Matters
Printing a sublimated patch isn't just running a file through a printer — color accuracy and print resolution determine whether fine detail actually holds up.

Colors shift from the original artwork
Color accuracy
Colors need to match the original artwork exactly, including subtle gradients.
Detail looks blurry or pixelated
Print resolution
Higher resolution keeps fine detail and text sharp instead of blurry.
Uneven color absorption on fabric
Fabric selection
The right fabric takes dye evenly for consistent, vibrant color.
Gradients look banded, not smooth
Gradient handling
Smooth gradients need careful color management to avoid banding.
Rough or mismatched border
Border style
A clean, matched border keeps the patch from fraying at the edge.
Backing doesn't suit the use case
Backing choice
The right backing suits how and where the patch will be attached.
Colors fade faster than expected
Color fade resistance
Properly sublimated dye resists fading better than a surface print.
Inconsistent results across a bulk order
Consistency
Bulk orders need consistent color and detail across every patch.
